Wisconsin requires smoke detectors on every level and in every sleeping area, and CO detectors on every level of any home with fuel-burning appliances or an attached garage. Beyond the legal minimum, interconnection is what matters: when a basement detector goes off at 3am, you want the one in the bedroom sounding too. Detectors also expire — most units are done at ten years whether or not they still chirp.

Where we do this work
We handle smoke & co detectors across all 50 communities inside our 60-mile radius — Eau Claire, Chippewa Falls, Menomonie, Rice Lake, Black River Falls, River Falls and everywhere between.
Every hour of labor we bill is covered for three full years. If our workmanship fails, we come back and make it right at no charge — no trip fee, no diagnostic fee, no argument.
- Written, not verbal. Your warranty terms are printed on the invoice you sign, with the covered scope and the expiration date on it. Nothing about your coverage depends on remembering a conversation.
- Transferable when you sell. Remaining workmanship coverage transfers to the next owner at no cost. Call us with the closing date and we reissue the certificate in their name — a genuinely useful thing to hand a buyer's inspector.
- Parts carry the manufacturer's term. Panels, breakers, fixtures, EV chargers and generators are covered by their manufacturer, typically 1–10 years depending on the product. We register the equipment in your name at install and handle the claim if one is ever needed.
- No fine print on the callback. A warranty visit means no trip charge, no diagnostic fee and no minimum. If we caused it, fixing it is on us.
Smoke & CO Detectors — questions we get asked
How often do detectors need replacing?
Smoke detectors expire ten years from the manufacture date printed on the back. CO detectors are typically five to seven years. They stop being reliable well before they stop making noise.
Why does my detector chirp at 3am with a fresh battery?
Usually the unit itself is at end of life, or it is the temperature drop overnight revealing a marginal battery contact. If a new battery does not fix it and the unit is over ten years old, replace it.
Do rentals have different requirements?
Landlord obligations are stricter and are enforced on inspection. We do compliance packages for rental properties and provide documentation of what was installed and when.
